More new appointments as growth of PI specialists Fentons continues

25th July 2013

Leading personal injury firm Fentons Solicitors LLP has made a number of new appointments, as the national specialist operator continues to build on its success and undergo a further period of significant growth.

After successfully achieving Alternative Business Structure status earlier this year and announcing a 14% increase in turnover, the firm - which specialises in representing claimants in personal injury, industrial disease and clinical negligence cases - has recruited Zoe Sutton to head the firm’s growing Military Claims department, and Hywel Thomas to lead the Abuse Compensation department.

With more than 13 years’ experience, Zoe, formerly of Irwin Mitchell, has successfully settled many high profile claims, notably securing £1.3 million for a young Scots Guard who was injured on patrol in Iraq, and £740,000 for a female AGC Sergeant who was subject of a negligent discharge while on a firing range.

Hywel Thomas joins from Abney Garsden and after specialising in the sensitive area of abuse claims for more than 11 years, will lead the team of lawyers at Fentons acting on behalf of those affected by historic and institutional child abuse and sexual offences.

“Zoe and Hywel bring a wealth of experience in their specialist niche fields,” said Kieran Maguire, Senior Partner at Fentons. “As we continue to implement our programme of expansion, it is obviously important that we not only diversify our work areas but ensure the very best individuals are recruited to provide the same outstanding level of client service as those on which we have built our reputation.”

Further key appointments have recently been made across all offices, increasing the number of qualified solicitors within the medical negligence, industrial disease and road traffic collision departments. Operating nationally from sites in Manchester and London, Fentons now employs more than two hundred people across its Princess Street and Failsworth offices in the North West and more than one hundred in its central London office in Chancery Lane.

Providing legal services for more than 80 years, Fentons Solicitors LLP is one of the largest specialist firms in the country.
