Carpal tunnel syndrome award for Fentons client

22nd February 2008

A 43-year-old Yorkshire man has received £25,000 in damages after he developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome because of the machines he had to use in his work. He had been employed by various local authorities carrying out gardening and landscaping work and had to use strimmers and lawnmowers. This exposed him to excessive levels of vibration. Medical evidence showed that this had caused him to develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. He was unable to carry on doing the same type of work. Karl Tonks represented the client. He said "this claim shows that it is not only people who have been digging up roads who have been affected by vibration. It also shows that vibration does not only cause Vibration White Finger but other conditions as well".

Karl Tonks, a Partner at Fentons Solicitors, acted for the claimant.
