FENTONS INSTRUCTED FOLLOWING TAXI OFFICE EXPLOSION

Fentons have been instructed by the bereaved husband of Ann Mawer who was killed in the fire that followed an explosion on Christmas Eve in the taxi office where she worked. The building that Fred's Taxis in Immingham Lincoln operated from was wrecked in the powerful blast.

The blast also claimed the life of another employee and left the owner with serious injuries. The fire brigade have indicated that they do not believe that there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

It is understood that Tony, who runs Fred's Taxis, walked into the office carrying a petrol can which for some reason exploded at 8.20am

Local people in what is a close-knit community have been quick to pay tribute to Mrs Mawer. A neighbour said: "She was very popular and had lots of friends in the area. I just feel for her family."

Solicitor Martin James who specialises in fatal accidents commented: "Our thoughts are with the family who have lost a loved one in such tragic circumstances. I am instructed to investigated all the circumstances of this incident and to seek appropriate civil remedies".

“The Police and Health & Safety Executive will be looking at issues around the cause of the accident. This serves as another reminder of the need for stringent health and safety regulations in the workplace".
