FENTONS CLIENT AWARDED £47,000 AFTER ACCIDENT AT WORK

11 August 2008

Wolley v Safestore Holdings Ltd

Settlement: £47,000 plus legal costs

Fentons client, Mr K Woolley aged 62 years at the date of the accident was injured whilst trying to access his place of work. The entrance to his offices were obstructed by debris and he was forced to stand on a wet cardboard box. Mr Woolley slipped and fell to the ground sustaining injuries to his right hip, right shoulder and neck.

Prior to the accident Mr Woolley had been suffering from arthritis in his right hip but he was not aware of this and was not suffering any symptoms before the accident date. The accident had meant that Mr Woolley had started to suffer from arthritis 5 yours sooner than would have been the case had the accident not happened resulting in Mr Woolley requiring a hip replacement sooner. Mr Woolley had planned to work until the age of 70 years old but had to reduce his working capacity following the accident.

Mr Woolley was able to recover damages for his past and future loss of earnings to his planned age of retirement.

The case settled without the necessity of a court trial in the sum of £47,000.

Sinead O'Riordan a solicitor at Fentons Solicitors acted for the claimant.
